About Our Practice
Burwood & Bay Veterinary Hospital has been a part of the Burwood, Concord, and Canada Bay communities for more than 40 years.
We are an independent practice with empathy and integrity at our core. We will always provide your pet with exceptional care and our communication around this care will be done in a warm, open and honest way. We will continue to invest in our practice and people to ensure up-to-date and modern treatments.

Founders
Dr Melissa Ball was lucky enough to buy Burwood & Bay Veterinary Hospital about 25 years ago with Dr David Plumb. As Dr Plumb lived outside Sydney eventually Melissa became the sole owner of the practice. It has always been a friendly and personal business. In Melissa’s words
‘The clients are delightful, the patients charming and interesting. I have been lucky enough to have wonderful nurses – Sally was with us for more than 20 years until she chose motherhood. Carolyn is the heart of the practice ands is now ably assisted by Emilia and Taylor. We all love Burwood Road and the community around it.’
Current Ownership
In August 2023 ownership of the practice changed and the practice is now owned by our veterinarians Olivia, Michael and Greg. All three trained at the University of Sydney, graduating together in 2001. Melissa will stay on as part of the team. Together, we have vast amounts of experience. Under our care Burwood & Bay Veterinary Hospital will continue to provide excellent care to our pets for many years to come.
